That's better. OK, on to the post.
You know how people tell you to step out of your comfort zone? I have done it this week. As you know I put on a business conference every year called the Ohio Growth Summit. While I love the event and the impact it has on the attendees getting the word out and marketing the event is a constant battle. I have tried everything from mailers, partner promotion to print ads. Most of that didn't work to well. Social media seemed to be the strongest outreach tool I have found. Having said that social media without content won't work. So what do we post on the site, Twitter and Facebook page? Obviously I like to write but there are only so many hours in the day. Between my Ohio SBDC job and all of my kids activities I can only write so many posts in a day. To come up with ways to generate content I turned to my friend Amy Schmittauer for advice. May not have been the best decision on my part because Amy is an expert at making YouTube videos. Guess what she recommended I do? Yes, make videos. Against my better judgement I started making videos. I have posted four in the past week. Other than the fact that I am in them they seem to do a good job of describing what we have planned for the Summit. I guess the end justifies the means.

This doesn't mean I don't think you shouldn't be using Facebook as a marketing tool, but think about where you're putting your effort and what you get out of it...
