It's the birthday edition of the Long Run.
I come to you today an older and wiser Michael Bowers since I am now 48 years old instead of 47 when I wrote last week's Long Run post. So what did I do on my birthday? I wrote this post about dead sharks (you will have to read it to understand the shark reference).
Speaking of birthdays one of my "GO TO" business sites turned one on my birthday too (it's OK I'll share). Savvy Sexy Social by Amy Schmittauer celebrated it's first year in business. Amy creates pretty phenomenal content and subscribing to her updates is a must.
I also went over 200 posts on this blog. Pretty amazing. I remember launching Ideas To Deals and writing my first post in a Starbucks at Stanford University when I was there for a conference. Amazing all the things that have changed since then.
What else did I do this week? I can't remember but I'm sure it was pretty impactful.
OK, let's move on.
Now on to this weekend's business long run. Remember these are articles that I have come across this week that would be good to look at to improve your business. As I mentioned last week I have a case of Runner's Knee
. I have actually not run for a couple of weeks now and I start physical therapy on Monday. I do hope to run a little this weekend but I know I will be reading these posts:
5 Ways to Make Your Post More Visually Appealing at Savvy Sexy Social by Allie Lehman ~ Strong tips on how to make your blog and blog posts visually stand out.
How to Survive SXSW With your Health, Dignity, and Most Importantly, Your Reputation Intact by Peter Shankman ~ I typically find South by Southwest to be pretty annoying, maybe because I'm not there. Having said that I do like this post because it is good general conference going advice.
21 Warning Signs You’re Becoming a Social Media Snob at Copyblogger ~ I like this post because it gives all of us a wake up call as to how important social media really isn't and it uses the word "asshat" in it (now I have used asshat too, cool).
Get Clients That Are Late Out Of Your Pocket featuring a Marie Forleo video on Ideas to Deals ~ Clients that are habitually late for meetings pretty much suck. Don't let them off the hook, charge them!
It's Lonely At the Top on Spin Sucks by Gini Dietrich ~ Not all CEO's are in the 1%. Awesome post by Gini on what it is like being a small business CEO/owner.
The Beginner's Guide To Content Marketing at KISSmetrics ~ Everything you always wanted to know about content marketing but were afraid to ask.
The Moxie Business StartUp Checklist at Moxie Women ~ Huge checklist of business start-up stuff. If you do all of this you should be good to go.
STOP Asking To "Pick My Brain" by Susan RoAne at the Mingling Maven ~ Note to those that want to pick our brains... Some of us paid to learn what what we know and we get paid to share that information, respect that!
Be sure to get out and put in your mileage this weekend so you are ready for your business marathon.
