This week my #FollowFriday person you should know is Mike Figliuolo. Mike is the founder and Managing Director of ThoughtLeaders, LLC. Mike has brought together a group of amazing people that provide instruction, training and coaching designed to help individuals and organizations be more effective and successful. The ThoughtLeaders blog is an incredible collection of posts that if you spend a few minutes every week reading you will learn to be a better leader. The best thing about it is that is not the usual leadership crap you get from "experts" it is real and applicable information that you can put to work right away.
Here are a few things about Mike. First of all he is a smart guy (don't tell him I said that). He graduated from West Point with honors and served as a commissioned officer in the US Army. He has worked as a consultant at McKinsey and Company and in leadership positions at Capital One Financial and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. He has translated his experiences in leading teams at these organizations into what he now shares with his clients through ThoughtLeaders.
Mike is involved in the entrepreneurial community as Principal a weBuild, llc, an early start-up accelerator focused on developing web and mobile applications. He is also actively involved in one of weBuild's first portfolio companies TiXiT that provides a platform for promoters to sell unused tickets ot their events.
Before we get much further let me be clear Mike is not the typical buttoned down corporate type teaching by the book leadership skills. Mike tells it like it is. He is very up front and you never question where you stand with him. He is also a great speaker and presenter and was a keynote speaker at the 2009 Ohio Growth Summit. Check out this clip of Mike discussing leadership maxims:
Given all that that this is my #FollowFriday for September 3, 2010. Be sure to check out Mike on his blog at ThoughtLeaders and on Twitter at @Figliuolo.
Wow. Completely honored and humbled Mike. I appreciate the incredible shout-out. If ever I can do anything to be helpful to you (other than closing my twitter account) just let me know.
